Mitchell & Co., P.C. was founded on August 1, 1993.  Our founder, Jeff Mitchell, has been in public accounting since 1977 and has been practicing in Leesburg, Virginia since 1983.  Our firm is committed to ensuring that we honor the public's trust.  To maintain this high level of professionalism, our Firm actively participates in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). 

Our Philosophy

Our ability to provide a wide range of quality services is predicated on technical expertise.  At MCo, such experience is accumulated by providing staff with properly supervised field experience and by imposing continuing professional education standards that exceed all industry standards through a combination of nationally offered courses conducted by well known specialists, in-house seminars led by the Firm's leaders, and tested self-study courses offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. 

We have adopted Quality Control Procedures and Policies, which guides us in our practice to ensure that we adhere to applicable professional standards.  In addition, we perform an annual in-house inspection of selected engagements, and every three years, we arrange for an independent external inspection to be made by a practicing CPA. 

In August of 2010, we had an external peer review conducted, during which our quality control document and numerous engagements were reviewed.  The result of this review was an unqualified report, indicating that our Firm has an excellent quality control document and that the engagements reviewed meet all professional standards (PDF).
